Our GHK Basic 200mg is freeze-dried GHK Basic (tripeptide-1) in a 200mg vial. GHK Basic is a copper-free tripeptide. It’s for lab research use only.

About GHK Basic (tripeptide-1)

GHK is the tripeptide glycine-histidine-lysine with no copper attached. Loren Pickart first found it in human plasma in 1973, and it has a strong pull for copper(II): in the body most of it ends up as GHK-Cu.

In cosmetic formulas it’s listed as tripeptide-1. Labs buy the copper-free form when they want to add copper themselves, use a different metal or study the peptide on its own.

How GHK Basic works

On its own, GHK grabs copper from its surroundings, including from albumin in serum or culture media. That’s why copper-free GHK often behaves like GHK-Cu once it’s in a copper-containing environment.

Comparing GHK with GHK-Cu is a simple way to see which effects need the copper. The copper complex is linked to collagen and glycosaminoglycan production in skin and wound models.

Published studies on GHK Basic

Pickart’s early work showed that GHK from plasma made old liver cells behave more like young ones in culture, and that the effect depended on copper. Later work mostly used the copper complex.

Gene expression studies, including work by Pickart and colleagues using the Broad Institute’s Connectivity Map, reported that GHK shifts the activity of thousands of genes, many tied to tissue repair.

GHK Basic compared with similar peptides

GHK Basic is the GHK tripeptide without copper. The compounds it’s usually compared with:

  • Pal-GHK is GHK with a palmitic acid tail, half of Matrixyl 3000
  • Lipopeptide carries the elastin motif VGVAPG with a palmitic acid tail
  • Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 is the other half of Matrixyl 3000, studied for lowering IL-6 in skin
  • Matrixyl is the collagen-fragment signal peptide sold as Matrixyl
  • Tripeptide-29 is the Gly-Pro-Hyp triplet that repeats along collagen chains
  • Syn-Coll copies thrombospondin-1 to free TGF-beta and push collagen output

Collagen and repair peptides make up most of our skin range. The copper peptides carry a metal ion, the palmitoyl ones a fatty acid, and each copies a different piece of the skin’s own matrix. See them side by side on our skin and cosmetic peptides page.

Checking your GHK Basic 200mg vial on arrival

Each vial carries the Raw Amino logo, the compound name and a purple Research use only band, with the amount (200mg) shown on the label. Check those details when the box arrives and keep the vial sealed until you need it.

The powder inside should look like a small dry cake or loose white flakes at the bottom of the glass. It’s normal for it to shift around in transit or to sit as a thin film on the side of the vial.

Some studies require the lab to confirm identity itself. If yours does, plan for that before reconstituting the whole vial.

Reconstituting GHK Basic 200mg

The concentration is the amount in the vial divided by the volume of water you add. A few common combinations:

  • 200mg vial plus 5mL of water: 40mg per mL
  • 200mg vial plus 10mL of water: 20mg per mL

Bacteriostatic water is the usual choice. Bring the vial to room temperature first, add the water drop by drop down the side, then swirl. If the powder takes a while, wait instead of shaking.

Label the vial with the concentration and today’s date before it goes in the fridge.

GHK Basic 200mg storage and shelf life

Sealed GHK Basic 200mg vials keep best in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Short spells at room temperature during shipping are fine for freeze-dried peptide.

Once you’ve added water, keep the vial in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks. Let a frozen vial warm up before opening it, because cold glass pulls moisture out of the air.
